Are we related? :p

do you think we should bring our tent with us or are tents constructed differently over there (eg to cope with heat, animals etc...)?

Valid question which I'm interested in reading answer to, because we were considering buying a UK tent, but questioned whether in Aus you'd need it to be more bug proof, heat resistent and ventilated? What are the top selling family tents in Aus? Any tent experts here?

Ours is a Black Wolf branded one, really easy to put up, Deb can have it all done before I finish a stubby;) www.blackwolf.com.au/

We also have a Black Wolf - a Turbo Lite. Fantastic tent. Can be put up in 10 minutes - which is why I bought it. Some of the cheaper tents take ages to put up.

Sure there are better experienced people that can answer than me, but we have two sets of friends we camp with one with a UK tent and one with an Oz tent, the UK one doesnt have as much ventilation and no fly nets. Other than that they are the same!!

My personal take on it, is wait till you get here there are always good deals about and depending where you camp there are places where the flys can piss you off soooooo much (Especially ANYWHERE on the Great Ocean Road) I would have to have one with fly nets on it!! But guess you could buy some netting and attach it when you got here!! So guess it doesn matter really!!

I honestly cannot see the appeal at all of camping. Where's the break? You still have to wash, cook, clean, pack the kitchen sink to take with you. No thanks, would rather stay at home and save for a decent holiday
