hi claire

we moved from coatbridge to brisbane in november......we used crown......cost £3,350 for a sole container......the only good thing we found about them was the 2 boys doing the packing....they make it worthwhile as they sneeked 2 cases of buckfast into the container for hubby .....they sounded very professional when they came to the house, we fell for the spiel......first they lost the paperwork in livingstone and we had to do it all again, we were told it would take 6-8 weeks door-door for sole container......it was due 15th dec, we thought great at least we would have our stuff for christmas......never showed up until 29th dec.....then took until 17th jan to get delivered to house......the online tracking is sh**e.....all it told us was when the stuff was picked up from our home.......then we had nothing but hassle getting it delivered this side......would not recommend them to anyone.

The guys from Crown in Brisbane were OK but just had to keep them going. Tell them what room you want the boxes etc in. Also if you want them to remove the packing ie paper and the boxes (although might be useful to hold onto if moving again soon) then they have to remove that same day. Ours tried to get out of it but I just kept going and gave them the lot. UK guys were fantastic. When they arrived (promptly) they made sure that we had tickets passports and other important documents safely out of reach.

Cheers

Ginny

Hi Thanks for that Ginny. We found the guy from Crown in Montrose (just round the corner actually) knowledgable and the service seemed fuller than others we've compared. Our gut instinct says they are right for us, so we are going with them but it's good to hear from other folk who has used them.
Thanks again.

As for the insurance will also be going to Leyton Percival for it.

Thanks for you input.

We think we're going to use Dorree Bonner. Had them and Allied Pacific out last year for quotes and both gret salesment. However, the reputation of AP put us off and friends of ours used DB and highly recommended them so I suspect they'll get the business.

Not sure about insurance yet though. DB quoted almost £1000. Are Leyton PErcival competitive in £ and cover?

Yep, Id recommend them. We used them as Gill says above. They were packing machines, so much so and heres the only complaint, and its a pathetic one, is that they packed a rubbish bin including all the rubbish! You cant complait with a complaint like thatone can you? Luckily the boxes were actually labled correctly and we retrieved said rubbish easily enough
Gill let me know if you get a guy called "Norry" (good guy) and his wee grey-haired gormless packing machine buddy. (Cant remmber his name but keep your eye on him, he'd pack your granny if he got the chance!!) They said they do most emmigration jobs in the area...

I know the shippers thing has been done to death but need good advice from people in our area, just so we know who to avoid, who has sticky fingers or butter finger !

Many thanks in advance.
