Hi

Can anyone give me any info on Cairns state high school, and which suburb/area it is in.

Anyone elses kids on this site who go there?

Have been on the website but it seems a bit out of date, did they bring in the soccer academy type project thay were thinking of.

Hi Kaye.

It's right in the main city on the North side of the Esplanade.
Spread between Sheridan and Grafton streets.
1 street from the Base Hospital and 2 streets from the seafront.

It has a very good reputation education wise.

Sorry, I don't know about the soccer academy.

You should write an intro book to Cairns I know a lot of stuff is on QL forum, but a book would be great.

Cairns High is in demand so they can choose not to accept those who live outside the catchment.

Order of choice for state high schools would be:
Cairns
Trinity Bay
Smithfield
Redlynch (new)
then the rest

I think they make exceptions for gifted students who meet their area of specialisation.

I find it hard to believe the catchment area could deliver the school population of nearly 1500.


Unless all of those UK nurses that Bix knows of living in North Cairns brought hordes of teenagrs with them

Does anyone know if Cairns High School has an associated junior school, or what the best junior schools are ?

State (junior) schools are by catchment, so it will depend on the suburb you live in. The better stste schools, close to CSHS would be Freshwater, Edge Hill, Whitfield. Further away would be Redlynch & northern beaches.
