Surf kayak then for when there is a shore break. There will be a couple of potholes out there in a cyclone for your boat to bounce out of. Complain to the mayor

Cairns High is very strict about their catchment area, a friend of mine rented a falling down old queenslander with no screens or air con to be in the area and when we lived at Trinity Beach we spoke to the school but there was no chance. If the child has a special ability that the school values (CSH is into performing arts) then they will make allowances.
Luckily Redlynch State College has everything we want and the kids seem to like it there.
