buying a car
I know this is a bit of a wide ranging question and everyone has their own opinion but we are moving to QLD next year and are wondering about buying a car when we get there. Is it the same as over here? We've always stuck to a place like Reg Vardy and gone for something about 3 years old. I've been told Holdens are cheaper than imports. Does anyone know how much they go for and if they're any good?

Worth comparing new to second hand over here because a lot of cars hold their value well...

Re: buying a car
A word of warning about buying almost anything out here tho as we have been stung a few times.
Unlike England, you have to add stamp duty to the price on the windscreen. I was told by the girls at work that if you buy a car privately, they still manage to get the money off you as you have to pay to have the car transferred into your name.
We nearly did the same with a house but found if you buy a block of land and build, you only pay the stamp duty on the block.
