If you are stopping off in Singapore, why not have a look in the airport - my mum got a camera there and said it was a lot cheaper. Maybe check the prices out here first and then you could probably barter with them!
Or else, if you are in London, Tottenham Court Road are supposed to be quite good for bartering as there is so much competitition in the shops.
Good luck

However I then decided to check Jessops website and found the camera I had decided on cheaper through them with the tax!

We got a bargain for my dad duty free coming back from Sydney a few years ago. Remember you can claim the GST back from the airport when you leave the country for purchases over (I think this is the right figure) $300.

try these comparison sites:
www.kelkoo.co.uk
or
www.dealtime.co.uk
Check out the various types in Dixons or wherever (can't beat actually trying/seeing them) and decide which item you want - then buy online
these will give you the best prices, and I would take a bet it is cheaper than duty free...
Be wary of Tottenham Court Road - you do not always get a bargain!
