Business for non-business types
No luck with a job yet in Sydney. Thinking about alternatives now. Is there any business that I could do here? I have never run a business before. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Buy a franchise like McDonalds, Bakers delight, Michels patisserie etc.
They provide a business plan & model plus all the training. You just have to supply the money.

Have you tried linking in with the Bangladeshi migrant community to see if anyone can help? It may turn out that another city has more contacts for you. Have you been in contact with the Bangladesh Embassy in Australia to see if they have any suggestions?

First, you have to work out if there is anything you are particularly good at, something that few else can do. If you have such a skill, you can generally make it pay.
Second, doing business without understanding business is a bit difficult. About the only way to really make that work reliably is to pick something where there is a real need, and where the profit margin is extreme. Then not knowing what you are doing is less likely to matter.
Last, you need to understand the marketplace, so you can identify the gaps in the market. You could say that in Australia there is a desperate need to give shops a whack upside the head with regards to customer service - and thus that training in that area seems an opportunity. The other obvious one is 'services for the suburbs'. Lots of houses with lazy people not doing their own work. So a jobbing gardener is always an opening.
Beware, Australia has a lot of rules, red tape and licensing - mainly in increase costs rather than anything else. Pick an area where the politicos haven't got their fingers in.
