Bundy's back (again)

There are aspects of it which are great - I love organising excursions, for example, but all the financial side of that task does my head in. Some students are lovely, others are a pain in the bottom. The thing that really gets me down (other than my evil boss) is the fact that I lose my entire summer. Wiped out. Gone. We get absolutely no time off between the beginning of June and the end of August - not even evenings or weekends are free. And the summer in Cambridge is such a lovely time that it's a shame to miss out on that. The plus side is that I have nothing to do from October to March!

Sounds like a fun job, though I guess it would be very busy/stressfull/annoying in the actual summer months!!
And if you don't have a nice boss, and nice students.......

Hey,
Great to see you posting again & also to hear that the Mom is doing well.
Welcome back to lovely sunny Cambridge (lovely in the spring, isn't it? Very scenic daffs etc at the back of Kings' at the moment). At least the beaut weather should make up for the Anne-Widdecombe-boss-hassles.
Are you still up for a Cambridge meet sometime? There seem to be quite a few Forum Folk in this area now....
Have fun & enjoy the sunshine!
Anya.

And yes, financial! I can imagine you never have enough budget!!

Yep, I do like Cambridge at this time of year. It inspires me to run though, which is why I am currently unable to move from my desk due to the fact that my poor legs have seized up after the 10km run I subjected them to on Saturday. Got to see lots of daffs along the Backs though!
A Cambridge meet sounds good. Who are the other forumites living in this neck of the woods?

No we have very little money to play with after 3 bad years (Foot & Mouth, 9/11, SARS, war, terrorism). I'm still clinging onto the hope of a nice little redundancy package if things continue as they are...

Ah, yes, that's bad, no summer! I worked as a waitress all summer, with sometimes 6 days, BUT, I did have a two week holiday, usually 2 days off, evenings free, and sometimes even afternoons, cos I started at 6.30 (breakfast). And I still thought it stuffed up my summer

Good luck with the running. I used to do half marathons - great fun & very exhiliarating. And I smoked 20-30 ciggies a day at the time!! However, I did far too much impactive road training in shoes with poor support, and it has messed up my feet a bit.
Other forumites - can't recall exact names, but have spotted several located in Cambridge/East Anglia in passing. Maybe if we posted a main thread calling all local members, we might tempt them out of the woodwork
Heard today on the radio that Thomson Fly (I think) is starting no-frills flights to Jersey from Coventry airport. Might be cheaper/easier than schlepping to LHR for Bundy-Mom trips?? Just a thought, anyway....

I'm tempted to try a half marathon...but not that tempted. I think about it every now and then but that's about as far as it gets. I'm not very good at running with other people (tend to get distracted and fall over) so maybe it's not a good idea! I used to do tetrathlon when I was younger (riding, running, shooting swimming) and I'd love to get into that again. Although with no horse it's a little tricky. I rowed here in Camb when I was at school and my god did I get fit! The blisters and early starts were tough though. For now I'll stick to running. Thinking vaguely of joining A Class at Kelsey Kerridge, but never get round to it and I'm scared of lycra...
Do you want to post a Cambridge Call-up, or should I???

No wonder I had to leave the US.....

Do you want to post a Cambridge Call-up, or should I???
2 reasons:
I'm a rather irregular visitor to this forum at the mo (work hassles - having to clear up mess of the p*ssed off customer variety, made by an incompetent colleague) so would not be able to check out the replies that often.
Also you are a more high-profile figure on this forum, so we might get more response (go on, use that celeb status to your advantage
)Cheers,
Anya.

See, I can't run and talk at the same time. I forget what I'm doing and trip over things (like my feet). I count when I run. It's very dull. I also have to trick myself with thoughts like 'I'll just run to that next....etc etc'. Plus I swear to myself a lot. This helps.
I shall post away on the Camb meet...

One of my measures of stamina when I was running was being able to hold a full conversation with my pal while we were doing 12-mile training runs (as well as smoking!). When she quit because of her advanced state of pregnancy, I used run round reciting poetry/shakespeare/Monty Python sketches to myself instead.
No wonder I had to leave the US.....
Would you mind posting it?

Good to have you back Bundy, your public has missed you
Glad to hear that things are more positive for you all, and that your dream of oz is still there if not so close.Theres a huge Bundy sign in a shop window close to here and I think of you and yours every time I pass it

Ahhh, good old Bundy Rum. We had a few last night for Mr Bundy's birthday. Can't wait to get back to Oz where we won't have to take out a mortgage to buy Bundy like we do here!
