BundyMum update
#166
hi bundy,
some positive news at last.....the radiotherapy treatment and care at the hospice should soon have her pain under control. They must feel quite positive about her prognosis cos they are treating her so aggressively !(aggressively = very quick and all guns blazing!!)
lots of love and hugs to you and your family.

Bundy's response to the an update I gave her from here, and the messages:
Thanks Simone - laughing about the poll! I'll be back to keep up the smut as soon as I can....
Please post my thanks once again to everyone that has posted. I'm about to go up to the hospice to see my mum, so I'll take along all these messages to cheer her up. Congrats to Moneypen, sad cyberhugs to Bob, tell Don and Leslie to grow up
and lots of love to everyone else!

Hi Bundy
I've only just caught up with your thread. While it's so sad to read what's happening physically to your mum, her humour is truly inspirational, please give her a big hug (careful though) from us. Before we were online, Simone told me that you were having a hard time... I've missed your banter and have yet to check out the crap thread, better go and catch up when I have a few hours free lol.
Thinking of you x x

Glad things are looking a bit more positive Bundy! If prayers, good wishes and good thoughts can pull anyone through, Bundymum should be shotputting soon!!!

Message from Bundy:
From Friday (I've been away all weekend, just got in now. Simone)
My mum is now in Southampton - a week early - because they found her a bed and wanted to get her over there as soon as possible to start her treatment. Because she effectively has a spinal injury she was ambulanced to the airport and then airlifted out on the equivalent of a Lear jet (nothing but the best, of course!). We only got an hour's notice and my dad, who usually requires at least 3 days to pack even for a night away had 20 minutes in which to pack a bag and get to the airport. Needless to say, it's been a challenging day.....Anyway, BundyMum is now in Southampton General and quite comfy. She's been marked up for her radiotherapy, which starts tomorrow. I'm going home tomorrow to squeeze in a week's work before coming back again. Honestly, we're now on first name terms with all the pilots and crew having done so many flights this year!
So, we're on to the next phase. My mum looks incredibly well - all rosy-cheeked and glowing (from the steroids, we suspect). She's been given some support stockings and my dad keeps muttering that it's taken 34 years to get her into a corset, stockings and a blond wig, but this isn't quite what he had in mind!
I'll be back on the forum next week when I'm back home.....
Thanks once again for all your kind words - keep 'em coming!

Evening all,
Here I am, back on the mainland for 10 days before going back to Jersey. Thought I'd post another quick update (and enormous thanks to Simone for being such a good secretary in my *absence*
).
They have found another tumour on my mum's spine, this time in her neck and once again pressing on her spinal cord. They're blitzing that one too, but from the front, so she'll have no voice for a few days. Lots of other tests being run, but all being well, the aim is to have her walking by the end of the week before she returns to Jersey. She's a bit miserable because she's being made to lie flat on her back and the ceiling just isn't that interesting. My dad (deeply dyslexic) is doing his best to read to her, bless him.
So, it's back to work for me for the rest of this week, trying to clear the decks before going back to Jersey. I now know all the flight attendants and several of the pilots and have begun negotiating discounts as an all-too-frequent flyer!
Thanks once again for all your kind words and support - bigger help than any of you can imagine. Some of my friiends took me out for a slap-up lunch today so I'm feeling a lot more cheerful. Just awaiting the next phase now.....

Hope things go well at SOTON Hospital (it's supposed to be a very good place for cancer treatment apparently; my sis did a stint as a houseman there about 15 years ago & they were doing lots of leading-edge reseach projects even then).
Stay smiling all of you, & get BundyMom to practice the Goldie Hawn/Dolly Parton accents (to go with the wig) while she's laid up

Anya.

Hiya B!
Didn't have a chance to respond to your email yesterday, just managed to post it here, and check out some other threads, then had a bath and fell asleep...
No worries about the secretary, wasn't any trouble at all.
Hmm, walking and stuff sounds quite positive! Good!
Good luck with the discounts for flights!
love,
Simone
