Do you have to go through this rigmarole for a Queensland Builders Licence if you already possess a Builders Licence issued in Adelaide??

We migrated here (Adelaide) 12 months ago and my husband has just passed his qualifications for his Builders Licence which we get next week. Would this be acceptable for the same licence up in Qld?

Thanks
Even if you move across the border from NSW to QLD you have to get the licence

Thanks for reply Cresta

I know we would have to get a licence when getting in Queensland but wondered if the SA Builders Licence we hold would be sufficient evidence for the application or would we have to provide all the paperwork over again and do more TAFE courses up in Qld??

If we do need to do more courses we'd better start them now before we get up there!

Thanks again - Daffy

Ring the Queensland Building Services Authority 3225 2855, head office no: they should advise.

This is another area where the States MAY differ.
eg: The A.C.T. rules are:
Your rights under mutual recognition - If you are currently licensed or registered in any other part of Australia in an occupation equivalent to builder you may apply for automatic licensing to act as a builder in the ACT.
How can you become licensed in the ACT? - To have your interstate licensing or registration recognised in the ACT you should fill out the form on the other side of this page, include the original or a certified copy of your interstate licence or registration and pay the same fee as local applicants.
Once this form has been processed you are entitled to act as a builder. This is called “deemed licensing. We will check the details that you have provided and must grant or refuse you an ordinary licence within a month. Once you are deemed to be licensed, you are subject to the same rules and disciplinary procedures as other builders licensed in the ACT

So do check with the relevant State authority.

Note also this quote from www.bsa.qld.gov.au: How can BSA regulate my activities all over Australia?

The Queensland Building Service's Board policies state the financial requirements for individuals or companies that wish to hold a licence in Queensland. If a person does not wish to meet the requirements that person will not be able to carry out building work in Queensland. If the person currently has to meet financial requirements to hold a licence in another State or Territory, the licensee will need to comply with the Queensland Building Service's Board policies to maintain the Queensland licence, in addition to any applicable financial requirements to maintain the licence in the other State or Territory.

Thanks for that JAD N RICH & ABCDIAMOND

I'll take your info onboard and start looking into it all!
