Default Broadband prices

Just as I prepare to leave these shores I finally get offered a good deal on broadband. BT will upgrade me from 1Mb to 2Mb speed and reduce the monthly cost from £29 to £25 pm, with a 15GB monthly download allowance.

This is far more than I reckon I need, even if i share the connection across 3 pc's. When in Oz recently my rellies had a cheap basic broadband installed - something like 256Kb speed and 250Mb download for under $20 pm - Does anyone know of any good deals for the next level of service up?

Hi,

I use Telstra Bigpond ADSL 256, unlimited downloads (well, its shaped after 10 gig but I never reach that) for $50/month. There are cheaper ones about if you pay by credit card and/or in advance

Thats odd. Do you pay by direct debit? If not that could explain half the difference

If you are still in the UK change to virgin for broadband their 17.99 package is what i'm on and its great. www.virgin.net

I love my e-mail I get with it too - we have had no probs with speed or anything - don't ask me about specs cause I can't remember but it will tell you on the webpage. A guy at my hubbies work says Bt is one of the worst providers - in some computer mag virgin broadband was up there in the top 5 providers.
