Please excuse my ignorance!
Just browsing and looking for a broadband/tv package for new house. Can someone give me some very basic advice re "useage allowance"? There is 2GB, 100GB, 200GB listed and I haven't got a clue what that means in real terms! For regular, every day, home use, what should I be looking for?
Thanks

OK, well I have two teenage sons who are never off their PC's, I work from home, and my wife uses her laptop all the time as well. I have a package from iiNet that's 40Gb peak and 40Gb off peak and that seems to be enough. Unless you are planning to start downloading lots of TV programs, films, etc then something like that would be more than enough for you by the sound of it.
I would suggest probably something around the 10Gb might even be enough. You can always increase it later if it proves to be inadequate.

There are two of us online, and we never use more than 5 - 7% of our monthly 50Gb.

My daughter, who spends a few hours a day on it, can easily use 8 to 12Gb a month.
My sister, who uses it for email and a few Googles a day, uses under 500mb a month.

When we first moved here we were on a 25gb on/25gb off which left us juggling downloads near the end of the month. I think they had a rejig of their packages and now we seem to get 50gb anytime - we haven't capped on that which is good news, but we don't download half the things we'd want to.
We live in hope of ADSL2+ reaching further up and out - at the moment we have a friend just outside Penrith who kindly downloads stuff for us
