If she was an Aussie, or even 2% lost lost cousin Aussie, the lead stories on Channel 7, 10 etc and the papers would have been this acheivement. Doubtless you would have also started another banal thread on here, yet again congratulating Australias latest "one up" on the Brits. You are a tragic parody of an ignorant redneck Aussie, who has never travelled outside his own state, let alone used a passport (by the way you don't need one to visit Sydney, in case you ever want to.) I have said it before and will say it again. If any prospective pom migrants wish to see what awaits them in Australia, then read some of Womtwats posts. The ignorant, self congratulating, parochial and downright hostity to anything forgein (IE not Straylian), should well be the warning you need not to uproot yourselves 12000 miles and spend thousands of pounds to end up in a backward, suburban isolated sandpit, surrounded by ignoramases whose national pastime is pom bashing. "Poor fellow me, you just hate me 'cause I'm a Pom." Sorry fella, you'll just have to live with yourself 'til the end. |

For the non-Brits, B&Q is a large DIY chain who have just sponsored Ellen MacArthur's record-breaking around the world solo voyage.
Copy of e-mail received by B&Q customer services: Dear Sir/Madam My congratulations to you on getting a yacht to leave the UK on 28th November 2004, sail 27,354 miles around the world and arrive back 72 days later. Could you please let me know when the kitchen I ordered 96 days ago will be arriving from your warehouse 13 miles away? |

She was ALONE...lets not forget that. She didnt just sail round the world the fastest. I would imagine the mental strength it takes to be alone on a boat for that amount of time, fighting the elements and all of the problems that arose, is pretty huge. If you watched the video diaries that she made, i am sure that even all you doubters would have to take your hats off to her ( youll need to take your heads out of your arses first though) :p
Whats wrong with congratulating someone for an amazing achievement:confused: to be honest she could have gone to sleep for 72 days, and "god willing " [if you believe in a god} arrived at her destination..................................She couldnt sleep -it was too noisy!! |
