Have'nt hundreds of people already sailed around the world. l guess with a lack of international sporting victories you need something, even a woman
sailing around the world in a little tub to maintain national pride.

Well said! We love Ellen- what a woman. We should be able to celebrate her achievement without someone belittling it. People may have sailed around the world before but no woman has done it faster.

It says on news.com:
"MacArthur was virtually unknown in Britain but a household name in France, where great sailors are venerated, when she set off 71 days ago."

Remember Terry Bulimore and a couple of other Poms who capsided their boats of the coast of WA and we Aussie Taxpayers had to pay millions to rescue these lunatics.

I'm not surprised it didn't make the news, the aussie media is so inward looking.BTW i'd rather be a pom than a LA (Little American)

The only reason she was able to break the world record was thanks to Aussie technolgy as the boat was built in Australia.

If she was an Aussie, or even 2% lost lost cousin Aussie, the lead stories on Channel 7, 10 etc and the papers would have been this acheivement.
Doubtless you would have also started another banal thread on here, yet again congratulating Australias latest "one up" on the Brits.
You are a tragic parody of an ignorant redneck Aussie, who has never travelled outside his own state, let alone used a passport (by the way you don't need one to visit Sydney, in case you ever want to.)
I have said it before and will say it again. If any prospective pom migrants wish to see what awaits them in Australia, then read some of Womtwats posts. The ignorant, self congratulating, parochial and downright hostity to anything forgein (IE not Straylian) rants should well be the warning you need not to uproot yourselves 12000 miles and spend thousands of pounds to end up in a backward, suburban isolated sandpit, surrounded by ignoramases whose national pastime is pom bashing.
