Brit firms soar up top 500
The Brit companies are making hay while refugees man the boats , must find an Australian owned company in this list I am sure there must be one or even two?
The doomed UK seems to be coping okay without the masses of Hairdressers and Brickies leaving to these shores.
THE number of UK firms listed among the world’s top 500 has shot up from 33 to 42.
The prestigious Forbes Global 500 lists household names like Royal Dutch/Shell Group — named as the world’s 6th largest company.
BP comes just behind, in 7th place, while other UK companies listed include banks HSBC in 9th, Royal Bank of Scotland in 14th and Halifax owner HBOS at No 30.
Barclays at 33 and Lloyds TSB at 45 are the other top UK banks featured in the list.
As ever, American companies dominate the list, accounting for nearly half the entries — compared with just under a quarter for Europe.
Japan accounts for 58 of the companies on the list — a big drop from last year’s total of 92.
The list follows publication of a similar one in rival magazine, Fortune, in which Britain accounts for 34 of the world’s top companies.
Royal Dutch/Shell and BP topped Fortune’s chart.
