Feels pretty cool right now in the evening and I don't have to work on the weekend. I've started leaving for work at 6.30 and am finding it much more bearable.

That's good, rabble :) Watch yourself in those 40 degree days, I don't want to be reading a story about a mad Pom who was arrested while walking naked in Brisbane's CBD, holding a tree branch over his head.
Still below 20°C overnight, but it will ramp up soon as Polly says. I leave at 6:30am too. The best time. |

I'm pretty sure the laws of physics mean it cannot get much hotter than this at night.

It will. But in 18 months time (+ or -) 20°C will feel cool once you have acclimatized.

Hmmm, not sure about that. I lived there for 5 years, and to be honest I didn't have a problem with the heat in general. But, the one thing I did always hate was the traipse from the train station to the office under the beating sun in the morning for a few months of the year. I know exactly what rabble is referring to.
I love the fact that it cools down at night in Melbourne over summer! |

I lived there for best part of 12 years and never really got used to it, I would sweat drying myself off after a shower.

Re: Brisbane heat hell
Just shows how everyone is different.
The only thing I miss from my 2 years in Brisbane is the weather. Everything else just fades into bland obscurity |

I wasn't saying it isn't pleasant, more that once we get into Oct - May Melbourne's weather is nice enough that I wouldn't miss Brisbane's! Even May - Sept I don't have an issue with Melbourne weather, it's just that the weather is pretty spectacular in Brisbane then...not that I ever find myself wishing I was in Brisbane...even in the darkest, murky depths of July!
The months I dont like are January and February, there are some truly horrendous days, but most of Aus is horrible at that time anyway. |
