Default Brisbane car rental anyone?

Hi there
We will be arriving at Brisbane airport in the early hours September 10th and was wondering if anyone knew of a good car hire company? We would want to pick the car up from the airport and rent for 3 weeks while we drive round and get our bearings. Any help would be appreciated
Many thanks in advance

I personally use Europcar, but never book direct as you can get better rates through some of the car hire broker sites. Do a google.com.au search for discount hire car brisbane and you will get loads of results. All the usual suspects (Avis, Thrifty etc) are in the international terminal, but there are a lot of smaller operators based off-airport (but close by) who will pick you up and take you to their base to get the car.

I'll second Europcar - used them for a 4 week rental on holiday, 3 weeks when we emigrated, once for a truck and hired a car for friends when they were over for 4 weeks - always got a good deal, good service and all vehicles were immaculate.

we arrive on the 7th Will you be there for good or are you on a rekkie? I am starting to panic a bit. We are also driving around for a bit to figure out where we want to live and where we can work, we are looking at Brisbane and the Sunshine coast initially but may fly up to townsville as well. We have booked 10 days car hire through Avis@ www.avis.com. (Oz branch). We collect and drop off from the airport and are hiring a Corolla Ascent. It is costing $399.60/£161. The reason we are using them is because we used them on our rekkie and they were great. Brand new Getz (was perefct but have more suitcases now), very efficient and helpful. Where are you going to stay? When we arrived last time we picked the car up and drove to our hotel in the CBD, the roads were okay but I think we got lost a couple of times! We were okay with driving because we had only flown over from Perth. This time we have decided we are going to get a taxi to our CBD hotel as we will be too tired after flying from the uk and we arrive late so it is not worth having it, plus you have to pay to park. We are therefore getting to cab to the CBD hotel and the day after, once we have been to the bank etc, we are getting the rail/trabsit back to the airport to collectthe hire car and then we will be driving up to Caloundra where we are staying for 10 nights. It is a good location for the Sunshine coast and north Brisbane, and cheaper!

Good luck!!

Hi
We booked through www.budget.com.au as they did a special rate if ur are oz residents, which If you are coming on a PR visa you will be entitled to this rate. We checked it out and it worked out a lot cheaper

Thanks for all the info everyone...
We are staying for good, no reccie needed as we've been before a couple of years back. Staying in Newstead, very close to CBD for the first 4 weeks and hoping to drive round looking at schools and areas from there. We've got 6 areas in mind, all no more than 20km away from CBD - Kedron, Wooloongaba, Bray Park, Corinda, Cleveland, Wynnum\Manly. We are also going to look at Beerwah and Caloundra as schools are really suited to what my daughters want to study etc, if not a lot further away from CBD. Good luck to you too x
