Don't know about Perth but move to Mission Beach and you would be laughing. There is only really one decent brickie gang in this area otherwise they get them down form Cairns. The decent gang are turning away work left right and centre!

Hi, weve just arrived in Adelaide and husband brought a car on saturday, then on monday he just drove around all the building sites we had spotted and got offered job straight away which he started on Tuesday. He was struggling a bit with the heat on Tuesday!!! He starts at 7am, stop for a break at 12 then finish at 3.30pm, hope this helps, Michelle

I am a bricklayer in Perth, work has definitely slowed down, the work in Australia is much harder than in the UK and the rates are droping. a friend of mine was earning $270 per day, on friday the foremen said he was droping the rates to $250 per day for the whole gang anyone who doesn't like it can go it's hard for every bricklayer and if you speak to any supervisor they say that it's only going to get worse. I hope not. Good luck I hope it all works out for you.

The RBA is killing the trade with interest rate rises ,Why britiain is doing the opposite i dont know .
Im offf to the uk tomorrow [19th] and i have an offer of heaps of work ,so itll be the uk for me for a while anyways.

Australia - economy is booming, inflation is rising, hence interest rates are rising.
UK - economy is flat, inflation is steady, hence interest rates are falling in an attempt to stave off recession.

yes amazulu i keep hearing that on the tele but its slowing for us ,so i would guess either we are going to pick up which seems unlikely if they keep raising rates or the rest of the economy is going to slow down.
Maybe a duel economy about to happen ,slumping domestic but booming mining .
