Blocks of Land in Perth

Has anyone else noticed how the sizes of blocks of land released are getting smaller and smaller? Currently most blocks seem to be between 300 and 400 square meters and for the priviledge of owning one you need to camp out for 5 nights

Not only that, they look like this:

So you have to build a really long, thin house.

In the arse end of nowhere...
Its the old make the prices look like they havent changed to much by chopping a 100sqm off the average plot size.

This aspect of Australian property leaves me cold. I can't believe people buy (& pay too much) this shit.

300 to 400 square metres - you're having a grin aren't you  How the hell do you build a house on that and have access to the back garden as well

I drove up through Carramar the other day and couldn’t believe how in such a massive country, people would buy a place which had less garden than an inner city UK terraced house. It yet again reinforces my view that everything is unsustainably silly here.

5 days, straight up. People who camped only 3 missed out. Places like Butler, I guess they are about 30-40 Ks from the CBD.

I couldn't believe it when I drove past the Carramar lands sales centre and saw all the tents on the car park. Hubby said they'll be after a new land release! :) Surely not. ..but apparently so! The only time I can remember that ever happening in the uk was when they'd sell defense houses off for 50p(or thereabouts) saying that there was no land at all spare in the uk. Mad!!

And more so, who are they? Are they locals? I doubt it. Probably from overseas and interstate and perhaps developer/real estate agents.

Something is going on. I think its the Vested Interests placing these people there to create an atmosphere that demand is still high and everything is good, thus the press report it and henceforth the panic buying continues unabated.

These blocks will now be going for $150k+ in Butler and add on the build wait times and rising costs, it's a risk.

Of course to call the peak in the market is crystal ball stuff, however, in subdivisional development, (ie developers) there is a real push on for land to be developed and titles handed over quickly in anticipation of when prices stop rising and maybe start dropping. Most Civil Contractors are now overwhelmed with work, delays are starting to creep in due to shortages etc

Boom and Bust....has happened in UK and the eastern states. Perth has not really seen as such, and this is the argument the VIs constantly state.

Greedy speculation has now taken over.

Simply ridiculous. What an absolute waste of money.

Might as well live in the UK for that price.
