We are going out on a 457 because I don't have the qualifications as a sales executive/director of a decent sized company to apply for a PR visa  but after 2 years in Oz its no problem.

It is my opinon only...come over on the 457 by all means ...then get PR asap.

The company sponsoring you on a 457 has need of your skills here...very soon or even now let them know you want an employer nominated visa.

The 457 is a great visa in my opinion, it should only be used for those people who are very settled in their own home countries and have no intention moving long term - for every company who brings in a 457 person who really intends a long term relationship then do a company sponsered visa PR.

We need decent agents working for companies explaining the differences between 457 and Employer nominated and costs and the relationships and timing.

So again I ask why are people selling houses to come to Aus for what might be a 4 year stint that could possibly end with a 28 day limit on leaving the country?

Why after two years is it no problem?

qualifications on paper zero.

after 2 years I have work experience in Oz etc etc.

I thought it was different myself. As soon as you arrive, start the application for PR, but my migration agent says otherwise.

Don't worry, I will be checking it out as soon as I get out there.

Hi guys,

We sold our house for a number of reasons. Firstly we feel it's overpriced at the moment and there's a chance it might go down in value (or just hover around the same value for years) so it makes financial sense - good equity at the moment. Secondly, we don't really like the house or the area we lived in so we would have moved anyway. We've been to Oz before for a year and rented our house out but it was a bit of a pain - rent not paid, rooms sublet etc. Plus selling the house keeps our options open, like maybe we'll move on somewhere else in the future.

We don't know how long we'll stay here for. We will probably apply for PR pretty soon (I asked my company and they are willing to get involved one way or another).
