Default Bills in Australia

We have just moved over and are lucky to have the luxery of a couplr of months free rent, but we are buying a house, and by the way what a sensible way to buy houses! Anyway can anyone give me a brief run down of the utilities bills, and other bills we need to pay ie poll tax etc.

Thanks

You pay rates not council tax. Thats every 3 months and includes your water bill too.

Then your utilities are on top of that, electric and so on again usually every 3 months and your phone bill usually monthly.

Easy really and not much different!
