Big (Ladies) Problem

Hi .... Have completed our TRA last year and were just in the process of finishing off our visa...... When suddenly , huge blow and have just been told at the age of 38 that i have breast cancer! My twin sister and her husband are due to emigrate early next year ,and our plan was to follow them shortly after. My agent has said that he has never come across this problem before ,but has basically told me that there is no point in continuing with our application at this present time.Would be interested to know if anyone else has been in this situation before and got there visas or if it was even possible to pass the medicals.
p.s Thank you Sophia for your PM, i will e-mail you tomorrow!
p.p.s Big day at hospital tomorrow morning for me ...results of all the tests to see if it has spread any further :scared: ... and also when i will be starting my chemo ...... :o
I know this is abit cheeky as more a reader than a poster ...but some Karma from you guys out there would be much appreciated...... feel like my Ozzie dream is slipping away :scared:

So sorry to hear your news ...
I was told by my agent, about a chap who was found to have lung cancer at his medical, he had op etc and once he was given all clear went on to get his visa and is happily living in oz, ... so try and stay positive and think of your plans as just being on hold for a while and once you have had your treatment and have the all clear you can continue with your dream.

Good luck for tomorrow - K sent

Take care

OMG i'm so sorry, all i can say is that you're one brave lady to come on here and share your sad news.....karma definately on its way lady :)

its easy to sit here on the bench and say think positive and think of that dream but it has been proven to work! grab all the help, healing, prayers (whatever you believe in!) complimentry therapies you can grab....this is your life and its worth fighting for and you've got a dream to fulfill!

it really hits home when someone so young is struck with such a shit disease!!

The very, very best of luck for tommorow, and you have every right to be scared.

good luck michelle and i know eeryone on the forum will wish you well, there'll definately be support for you on here.

best wishes,
debbie x

Re: Big (Ladies) Problem

Karma sent - I wish you the best of luck tomorrow......this is just a blip so don't lose focus on your dream. I think its important that you look after yourself right now, once you know what treatment you are to have you can look into submitting your visa application. Once you know where you stand post your question on the Immigration forum - I'm sure in the past an agents name has been mentioned that specialises in medical issues surrounding visa applications. Meantime though take time to come to terms with this sad news and focus on your recovery....Australia will always be there for you.

Take care and let us know how things are going.....if you need someone to talk to feel free to PM me.

Hi Michelle
What a blow, I can't imagine what you must be going through !!
Never let the dream go, my friend had breast cancer and she was given the all clear about 6 months ago. From what I understand you will be able to complete your dream but just a little later than planned. BIG hugs for you and your family, wish you all the love and best wishes in the worldxx

Good luck for tomorrow, sending you calming Karma.
Remember, Oz is still going to be there, when your well enough to carry on with your application.
When your ready do a search for the name of the visa chaps who specialise in health matters, I can't remember his name, but the other agents recommend him so he must be good.

Re: Big (Ladies) Problem

Bugger  That's terrible news. Hope the treatment goes as well as it can. Obviously everything is on hold for you. The agent with the medical expertise is Peter Bollard - he's in Sydney and his e-mail addy is onk[at]bigpond.net.au . He is recommended by all the agents who post on here so must be good.

If you have the time and inclination, let us know how you get on. Loads of hugs and karma heading your way.

Michelle,

So, so sorry to hear this and I truly hope that the results of the tests give you some positive news.

My FIL was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer in 2002/03 - he and my MIL applied for their visa after he was given the all-clear and they moved to Oz in May, my point being this doesn't mean that your dream is slipping away. You just concentrate right now on fighting this thing and getting yourself completely well - and once you have it licked, your application can get back on track!!!

A HUGE hug and karma coming your way.

Best Wishes,
Nicky

Best of luck for tomorrow, hope you get some good news. Remember what I said, and do your research!!!!! Make sure you feel in control of what is happening to you, ask as many questions as you can think of, and if you can't think of any, just feel free to ask me!!
My oncologist said that in all his years of experience the best way to get a good result is to have a positive mental attitude.

Take heart from all us survivors out here, there are plenty of us, this is my second time and I'm only 33, I've chosen to it holistically this time....and remember you can beat this.

Don't forget to email me...and remember if you want my number just ask!

Love, Peace and hugs babe

Hi, thank you for all your replies ,and i think that Karma thingy works,as got the news today at the hospital that the cancer hasn't spread anywhere else!!! :D
Even after the consultant explained to me that i need six courses of chemo , a mastectomy , that i will become infertile after the treatment i still left his room with a smile on my face i think i was so relieved that it wasn't anywhere else ,after watching my partners father die of lung cancer last year.
I feel blessed that i already have a six year old son ,so instead of feeling bitter that i cant have any more ,i feel grateful as i know alot of people out there cant have children at all.
A bit annoyed about losing my hair (as a hair quite long, and i,m a teeny weeny bit vain) but will go on shopping spree to find some nice bandannas, and false eye lashes! I will also enjoy my last weekend out at my local with friends ,and have a few drinks!..God i,m going to miss my wine as well
Thanks again everyone...and believe me i,m not brave , i dont feel it , i just have to much left to do......just going to put it on hold for about three years and four months ,see you all in oz!

What a lovely, positive attitude :) . I'm glad things aren't as bad as you had feared and that you are looking at things with such a positive slant. Your husband and sonmust be so very proud of you. Keep on smiling and hopefully we can all have a big get together when you get to Oz, with plenty of wine ;) :D
