Beans are pricey compared to Uk. There are Oz heinz beans, in a green tin and "UK style" beans in the famliar blue/black stamp. They were about 1.70 is I recall. Although watties and coles beans are not too bad and cheaper than heinz , not as cheap as UKers though!

Basics like bread, beans, milk, pasta etc cost a bit more in oz mate!

Beans on Toast no longer the cheap meal it was in England - ordinary sliced load can set you back $2.:scared:

The "ordinary" sliced loaf in coles/wollies is bloody ordinary, about sainsburys economy standard, yet 5 times the cost!!!!

A lot of Aussies do make their own, due to the cost and crap quality of Aussie supermarket bread. My father in law made his own every day, at first I thought why?? After a couple of weeks I respected his decision and helped myself.
