The first house was more than they had to spend.

But this doesn't necessarily give a realisitic view when having to live there on a lower australian income. I know petrol is cheaper, but friends have told me that cars are more expensive to buy. there is the cost of education for kids. Yes there is a state system but again friends tell me that you usually end up paying out a lot. And as for private education, how many of us can afford that option? And not forgetting medical and dental care.

I've noticed a lot of the families featured on WDU say"It's only a plane ride away...." but these flights have to be paid for and I don't imagine these are much cheaper from Australia especially when you have several family members to fly back for visits to the UK. I wonder how anyone affords to come back on the salaries Nadia has been quoting. I know you can say well the family will visit us but realistically as in the case of the 80yr old dad on this morning's show, how often is he going to be able to go out there to see his grandkids. Then there was the mum the other day with MS who said she would not be able to make the journey.

I guess what I'm thinking is that after you've got used to the sunshine and the novelty has started to wear off and reality is kicking in, is the grass any greener.......?

Well, I suppose that answers that then......
I thought if we would go for a Recci it may help us make up our minds and realize it is all worth it after all...
I wonder if BBC are going to make another series of WDU...I know who would be the first to apply ....

BE does not condone the distribution of copyright material and we will delete posts that breach this policy.

Thank you.

Was it not your very self that setup another thread just for information about downloading this program via UKNova. You know the place where its very diffacult to access let alone download from.
What is the correct way to distribute my FTP site without upsetting anyone on BE? I feel as i'm letting down the massives.

I'm not saying I'm right BUT!! I have very strong feelings about copyright when it comes to the BBC anyway.
Our licence fee has paid for this program to be made in the first place, so technically it is part all of ours anyway. Then the Beeb put it in a nice box and try selling back to us again, in the form of a box set. 20 disk's, should get at least £50 for that lot.
Is it just me??

Hello
Like you I have been to oz to have a look and still in two minds but what i have asked myself is with the low income, missed family and a price of a bag of spuds the same as here, why are people still opting to go? and i think the answers you may be looking for might be in the update forums at the top where people have settled and making the most of it.

Ok, firstly, I didnt set up the thread, I separated the UKNova posts from the main thread.

UKNova - as I understand it - allows for personal downloads fo programmes not commercially available.

The issue BE has - if you read the posts by Sue and I - is NOT the downloading, its the distribution of the downloaded product. Its the distribution which breaches the BBC copyright law. In removing the posts today I was acting at the request of the co-owner of the site. BE does not condone breach of copyright - and, personally, I support that.

I am sure that the actions of Sue and I have been discussed in other methods of communication which are available to all members of BE such as email, pm etc.
