I used to collect the golly badges. The first record my mother bought me was a 78 (now that gives away how ancient I am) called "Black Sambo", and I can still remember the lyrics!

I used to have a book called 'Little Black Sambo' and I collected the Golliwog badges with Robertsons jams as well.

When I was back in UK last year, We went to a hobby/ craft farm. I saw the most beaugtifully made Golly family for sale. Not old but brand new.
The artwork was just beautiful. There was even a grandma sitting in a rocking chair.
I didnt see it for the old connotations people associate with it, just the incredible beauty of them.
