Hello,
I'm looking for some advice/ local knowledge of Balcatta and surrounding suburbs. My partner has just got a job in Balcatta so we will be looking to move from Rockingham to closer the job.
Any infomation on suburbs to avoid, transport links, amenities or any useful knowledge would be gratefully received. We need to be able to get back to visit parents in Rockingham without being stuck in traffic for hours and would also like to be able to pop on the train to Perth for the odd night out.
Thanks in advance!

I live in balcatta currently and have had no problems here, theres plenty of shops around, some pubs and the houses are a mix of old and new houses like a lot of areas are now.
It is also pretty close to morely (I lived there for awhile also) which again has a big shopping centre with cinema, never had any trouble there either.
The main reason I live here is it offers resonable rental prices while still being close to the city

My hubs and I lived there back in 2006. The only reason we moved is we upgraded from a villa to a house, which was in a different suburb. I liked Balcatta, just avoid living on Main St, or Wanneroo Road, as they are major roads and a pain to get in and out of with a car.
If work is in Balcatta, check out Osborne Park for either renting or buying - it's closer to Perth, the freeway entrance, and it's cheaper. It's definitely becoming more upmarket over time and is a good place to buy for that reason. Balcatta real estate is relatively more expensive, while further away from the city.
