we have recently received our visa and are in the process of booking our flight, I want to know if you can get the baggage allowance of 40kg even if having a stopover in bangkok/thailand for 3 weeks, and if so how do you go about getting the allowance.
Thanks for any help

Emirates require a one way ticket and less than a day stopover to get the 40kg allowance.
Seven seas shipping co give give you 30kg by airmail for £275 or else £85 per 40 kg for sea mail with £46 per 40 kg therafter. So far they seem pretty good.
Is it worth begging some check-in monkey for a few kilos when you can ship 80kg for £130 ?
Plan ahead and send loads in advance.

Can't help with the baggage allowance if you're having a stop over, but sure someone can.

We are doing a stop over for about a month in Thailand too - looking to do most of our shopping for new Southern Hemisphere wardrobe there.
We rang Thai Air and asked if we flew in with normal amount of baggage from Heathrow, could we have the migrant allowance from Bangkok to Perth - and they said we could have 40kg each!
However, I am going to email the question to them also to hopefully get the same reply in writing - waiting till I have booked the flights though as we are having difficulties with getting permissions to carry OH's three months supply of insulin in hand luggage (long story).
