Ditto everyone else's comments. Especially the one about being polite even in a raging debate. After nearly 3000 posts I'm sure you deserve your 'retirement'. Good luck

Hmm, Mrs B arrives, Mr B has to stop posting.....either they are too busy trying to produce little Badgers (scary thought!:scared: ) or she has a very large thumb and has Badger firmly under it.....!!!

Seriously though, you'll be missed mate, you're one of the people whos' been keeping me sane. Enjoy your life together

You'll be back

You better be!!

Anyway, I think a lot of you 'fitting in' in Oz, and being succesfull there, boils down to you fitting in with the sporting/outdoorsy culture, and you coming from a 'shitty' flat in London, going to a house in Mel.
And of course also you good workexperience background and that you got a very good job quite quickly.

I just hope Mrs B. enjoys it as much as you!

Good luck to you's and have fun!

So sorry that you are leaving Badgers. Its so sad to see the old timers leaving, though there have been many times where I have just had a break for a while.

I wish you all the best to you and your wife, have a long, happy and prosperous life in Australia.

Well, Badge has done us proud and expressed himself really well.
I for one am getting really narked with the amount of negativity on this side of the forum. Why should Badge have come up with so much flack for enjoying Australia? Why do the anti-Aus lobby spend so much flipping time in criticising Aus and people that enjoy it? If it's not been right the right decision, why spend so much of your life on this forum? We've already made our minds to go & are perfectly capable of making reasoned choices. Many posters seem to have this arrogance or make assumptions that wanabee migrants are incapable of making rational decisions... like we would move half way around the globe on a whim. It seriuosly pi$$es me off that people are driven off the board, when they have invested so much time in being helpful, are liked by most of us etc.
Rant over...
I don't normally get so wound up!!!

Where exactly do you see this happening?
I see a lot of people criticizing Oz, but hardly anywhere criticizing Badge or anyone....

As you said: 'seem'
I see people starting (usually good....) debates about Oz, and for example questioning people about if Oz has less crime than the UK.
I don't see this as arrogance, I just see it as starting good debates, which aren't ever hardly started by us wannabees...

I also don't think anyone moves on a whim, but there is a lot of stuff we could not realise(because nobody ever talks about it), or that we assume, and is actually untrue.
I've changed a lot of my ideas since reading this forum for so long, and I have heard a LOT of others saying: 'this forum has made us more realistic', or 'I wish we had discovered this forum BEFORE we came out, we's still be here, but would've been more prepared, more realisitic'.
