rooksie J! We took Baby #1 to US when he was one, i would suggest asking for a bulkhead seat, thats the one where there is a wall in front of you rather than another seat. Get a sky cot, at six months they spend more time lying down and a seat costs money!!!!

When #1 went to US, he stood up for most of the outbound day flight and slept on the floor for the overnight return!!! we had a sky cot but he was a bit big for it, so we just used it for changing nappies! hope the screaming lady was sitting next to me!!!

I flew with Singapore in April, baby 6 months (BIG BABY GIRL!!!!)
But the sky cot was great.
It was on the bulk head seats, make sure you put the tv up first before the attach the cot, or you won't be able to watch it.
She fit in it well, and slept well.
Only problem is when there is turbulence, as you then have to take the baby out and use the seat belt on hem, thus waking them up!!!

Go for the cot!!!

Def go the cot - your child will sleep better and you'll have more legroom. Only hassle is you have to take them out if there is turbulence. We did it and only wish our son has stayed baby size for subsequent flights

When we were looking into this at the end of 2005, Singapore Airlines had the biggest or one of the biggest cots and it was fine weight wise for our (at the time) 14mth old, although she is a bit on the smaller size.

1st leg she slept most of the way, we were in the middle seats on a v quiet flight. Can't put the arm rests up there, so I quickly grabbed 3empty seat to the side to sleep in most of the way to Singapore. 2nd leg was full and we were to the side, which was a pain and had a stranger in the aisle seat who had to move along with the cot every time I need to go to the loo (was pregnant so a few visits required).

They let us take the pram right up to the plane door which was v helpful too (but most do that anyway)

Yes I agree Singapore cots are good. The seat belt light was on/off for most of our flight from SIN to Brisbane, a real pain as there didn't seem to be any turbulence.

We flew out with a 2 and 1 year old and just used the skycot for the 1 year old. He thought is was great and just sat in it most of the time. If you can afford to buy an extra seat and your little one is big enough to sit in it on his own then have one, otherwise I dont think it will be used. Dont forget to book a bulkhead seat beforehand!

We're making a trip back to the UK in a few months and have booked the sky cot with emirates for our boy, he'll be 9 months old at the time, we also have a four year old who has a seat so were hoping that might give us options for baby sitting down if he wants to(their two bums are still smaller than mine!)

We flew out last year on Reccie with Singapore, didn't have option of seat as (Just) Under 2 and agent couldn't book it, but got sky cot.

Would def go for Sky Cot as you will get Bulk head so lot's of leg room plus airline aren't allowed by law to split Family up (in case of emergency :curse: )

We also requested if available to have seat for Abbie when we checked in. Couldn't do it on way out as Aircraft Full (but upgraded free and still got Bulk head) but on way back nice Ozzie at singapore air blocked out seats on both legs, so had sky cot and extra seat.

Only draw back with Sky cot is must remove child when turbulence (bummer if baby asleep). Have requested Sky Cot on oneway flight in July as Abbie still under the weight although qualifies for seat. But extra legroom on a long flight is an absolute godsend. Especially when there's five of you.

I would also definately reccommend the sky cot.

If they are in a seat at that age there is no way you will get any sleep because even if they do go to sleep you will be worried about them falling off the seat. When they are awake they just want to be held anyway. With the skycot once they are asleep they are safe and secure, you can strap them into the cot. You can also sit them in it and put toys etc in with them - they are great!

skycot for sure - which gets you bulkhead seats, and then you can book a seat too for her if you want. Personally my boys had seats of their own at around age 10 months + ..... 6 months I think is too young for their own seat.

but - do whats comfortable for you guys.
