BT are in Melbourne but here they are more of a solutions seller / integrator. Greythorn IT recruitment have a relationship with BT here, try giving them a call.

Hi,
one thing you will need to bare in mind is that all industries tend to be pretty heavily regulated and you will need to get the appropriate licenses to be able to work. I have a similar background to yourself and would have had to go back to tech college to get the licenses (or so I have been led to believe).
On the plus side, I was told by an Aussie sparky that the years of experience should count for a lot and might help to cut the amount of time needed to gain the required qualification. He advised me to speak to my local TAFE for advice. The guy did also say that there was plenty of telecoms work about and that the money was pretty good.
Fortunately I managed to get a software support job so I haven't had to pursue this any further.
Good luck, hope all works out for you.

Regards, SG
