Average wage figures May 2004
THE average worker now takes home more than $49,000 a year, figures show today.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics said average weekly earnings climbed 1.2 per cent in the three months to February.
The bureau said full-time adult ordinary time earnings rose to $949 a week, up 5.3 per cent over the year.
Full-time total earnings, including overtime and bonuses, rose 1.1 per cent to $996.20 a week.
The average public sector wage of $1,037 a week was higher than the private equivalent of $923.70
