Yep! I totally agree! The same as double glazing keeps hot air in in the winter and cool air from the air con in in the summer!
The Aussies just don't get it though...Except for the fantastic guy who is drawing up the plans for our extention he totally gets it and is working on designing the most energy efficient materials, door placement etc. He was really excited to see our double glazing and hydronic heating

Well thats what everybody says, but having now been here for a 'summer' swimming in the 'stinger' nets isn't a problem, and there are plenty of them.

And as for the rain, yes when it rains, it rains heavy!, but looking at the floods on the news, it does that in "non tropical" bits of Aus!...and when it rains, its not "cold" like back in the U.K.! I dont think the rain actually stopped us doing anything we wanted to last summer.

but as you say, horses for courses! & if everybody believed me...it'd be too bl**dy crowded here!

We're having a cold snap right now. 3 at night, what 11 in the day. Advertised as what Melbourne used to be like...there you go.

The good thing is that already the days are getting longer - it's amazing how once you get past the solstice down here, it's very quick to change. It's not quite as light here in the evening in summer so accordingly it's better in the winter. And that sun which is already higher in the sky is bringing sunny skies- the same height that will bring spring.

6 at night and 20 during the day but think the large difference just makes it feel colder still.

Buzzy
About to look at developing a 100 acre site in Nth Qld. Subdividing into 15 plots and definitely using the ICF.

They (the local builders) are calling it a fad. I just smile and add a b where the d used to lay. And tell them to jump down a hole (a mineshaft in fact).
