Talking Australian CV

hi

can any body tell me the difference between a UK and AUS CV??
are there specific requirements on an australian one.
my uk consists of:
name
a description about my background and on job knowledge
company history
qualifications/training
hobbies/interests.
limited to 2 pages.

no photos, do australian CVs have photos and more info.

Main difference is in the UK you would limit yourself to 2 pages. In Aus the norm is more like 5 pages and they want nauseous detail on your past roles (the kind of stuff that would get you thrown out in the UK).

Think of it as the Aussie love of red tape and stupid forms - particularly with the need to answer "selection criteria".

Try applying for a public service position (I've helped several friends brainstorm for their applications). In addition to your actual CV, you end up writing a mini thesis for even the most menial position.

Don't know about the norm being 5 pages though. Most people I know working in the private sector have about 3 for their 'standard' CV, which are then tailored accordingly to each position description. I had just graduated from uni and had a 5-6 page CV (had a few part time jobs and internships), and I was then told to trim it down to 2-3 pages and take out the irrelevant stuff.
