Its a few years out of date pal even then its very close , what is does show is Australia has a large Muslim population same as the UK and its growing with immigration.

ahhhh pb, but these ones aren't refugees, they emigrated here on skilled independent visa after studying hard in Ukraine and working hard for a good job (the Dad speaks 4 different languages including English). They are very nice people and hard working like the best of us. They have been here for a year the same as us, after spending several years in Pakistan and then getting the PHD in Ukraine. Very humbling to hear their story, when all they started with 8 years ago was 6 plastic plates and no shoes, leaving their home and all their posessions behind for fear of getting caught and killed by the Taliban. And believe it or not they are not muslims and are glad to be in a country where religions do not rule so strongly.

It does make me a little mad when people tar everyone with the same brush just because they come from the same place (i.e. PB your favourite saying 'all aussies are dull and boring'). I came from Essex, doesn't mean I go around in white high heels and have a boyfriend called Wayne and a sister called Sharon and dance around a white handbag (If you've heard of the Essex girl jokes you'll know what I mean)! In fact I'm the complete opposite, hell I don't even have a sister or a handbag come to think of it!!

there I've finally got that off my chest, funny I'm usually pretty quiet when I post on here, never ranted or raved in my life!!

So they did not flee their country then as all refugees do of course they did , then got to Australia through the back door as will a lot who are in the UK.
They are not Muslims well thats a turn up Methodist maybe?
An Essex girl well they knew what they were doing naming the county that , we lived across from an Essex girl here named Tracy and she lived up to all the jokes about the girls there she was great fun.

Yes PB they did flee their country (can you blame them), but they fled to Pakistan and set up there for several years and was lucky enough to get a good job (engineering I might add) which allowed him to apply for Aussie visa like everyone else does, not back door way at all, they waited several years for their visa approval just like everyone else. They don't follow any religion as they have seen what it can do to families and people.

As for Essex girls, yes I knew plenty that stood up to the name very well, we actually had a girl working for us who was called Sharon, had a sister called Tracey and drove a white XR3i Cabriolet but she was no 'airhead' even though she was blond! I was just pointing out that it gets on my nerves when people generalise and are so blinkered. Over the years I have become very tollerant of all cultures and realised that everyone has the same basic needs and a lot have the same ideals and standards, its only a minority who take a bad path that give the others a bad name and if some people can't realise that then they are going to have a miserable life and end up seeing no good in anything. As I said before, I take each person as they come, I don't judge them on where they come from or what they do for a living, if I get on with them then great, if not then I just move on to the next person, after all its personality compatibility that draws friends together.

Oh dear, I rattled off again!!

I agree with your views on refugees and peoples of all nations which this guy is reguardless of visa he got so does Australia and it has a policy to allow in refugees upto the last count 600,000 thats the leagal ones.
With most engineers that are any good leaving Australia I am not supprised they only gettting replacements from the third world.
You will never be a true Aussie with this attitude as most love to dislike all races bar their own Poms being high on the hate list , they are by nature racist and cannot even except the Abo's.
As for Essex girls Tracey is blond bubbly and great fun and by no means an air head only draw back Martyn her hubby is a Millwall fan never mind he will grow out of it.

who said i wanted to be a true Aussie. I won't even pretend to be what I'm not. I'd just love to live here and enjoy my life as it is for now, whats the harm in that. Its a part of this planet that seems to agree with me so I may as well give it a go even if I have to share it with people from other countries no matter how they got here. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and I was a refugee, I would go to a country where the best oppotunites for me at the time are.

anyway I could rattle on again but I won't, I've got better things to do. It's nice to have had this discussion with you PB, even though you sometimes annoyingly miss the point and rant off about something completely different. But being a tollerant person I don't take it personally.

Just out of interest, have you only lived in Perth or have you given other states a go. I hear from a lot of people that Perth is lovely to go for a holiday but too isolated to live there, I've never been there so I wouldn't know. I'm glad we opted for NSW as at the moment we are very happy and things are going along real good. Oh no am I a successful immigrant!

Good luck with your move back to the UK, and I mean that sincerely not sarcastically as you know I am very tollerant of other people and I do admire your post writing efforts and have had a good laugh at some.

Most Immigrants can only move where they they will be allowed to live that may not be the best place for them , I can move anywhere in Europe or stay here god forbid.
Your points about Perth are near the truth any travel out of it is expensive and to far to bother not unlike most of the arse end of the world.
Great you enjoy it here I find it limited with people who also have a limited outlook , I would bet that you have been here less than 2 years , anyway Good Luck Australia needs more open minded people like yourself.
