Default Australia Day in Sydney

We are going to be in Sydney for Australia day, has anyone got any recommendations of things worth going to see?

Was thinking of a cruise on harbour in evening when fireworks are on, but can't find much, can anyone recommend any?

Cheers,
Martin

We were there last year for Australia Day. We did a tour of the Sydney Opera House (pre-booked on the internet) and spent alot of time around the Opera House and Botanic Gardens watching the yachts go by etc. It was crowded and a bit of a pain trying to get lunch so it might be handy to pack a picnic.

There were also bands on in one of the squares but I can't remember the name of the place now. It was pretty close to the Observation Tower.

Has anyone used the Vagaboind cruises? They offer an evening cruise on Australia day (not seen many other evening ones all seem to be daytime) to see the fireworks.
