Stick to the topic or stay off the thread please. Some of the comments on here are unnecessary, especially considering Sunday coming. I don't want to have to close or move it.

The amount of wealth a country generates bears no relationship to it's socia-political status as can be seen from the excellent example of this that you have provided.

On the topic, if you even have a casual browse of some of the shocking socio-economic conditions, corruption, lawlessness and caste related violence that goes on in India, I think you will see Australia as a much better place to live and with minimal issues by comparison.

Oh dear....... have'nt herad or experienced this point of view for a few years... certainly did not expect to find such a point of view on Bexpat.com. You seriously need to read some history books BEFORE making such statemets or asking such stupid questions to an ex serviceman. There have been centuries of conflict between the Anglos and the Celtics. BOTH sides commited Atrocities. However the one man's terrorist is another mans freedom fighter principle (if thats what you are narrow mindedly alluding too or where your political views are) is no longer relevant any more as the PIRA supporting yanks found out on 9/11.
The British Army has come a long way since the early days in Ireland and it has learnt alot of lessons. There is actually some semblance of peace now with in the provence but its the ignorant generalisations like the ones you have made on this forum that can cause the conflict and suffering to continue. SORT YOUR LIFE OUT its ANZAC day on sunday...... LEST WE FORGET.....
