Personally, I think a low point in man's history was reached last year when over 50% of mobile phone traffic was devoted to texting for the first time and I fear there is no way back!
2 Parents giving in to 'pester power' and letting little John or Betty have PC's, DVD's, TV's, Play Station's etc - in many instances in their bedroom to where they often hastily retreat with their meals! Have meals together, read together, talk to each other, look at newspapers (fewer young people tend to read them these days), join a library etc.

I like Badge and others that have commented by aged 3 was advanced with reading and writing (though this has declined along with my spelling
)I am not from a well to do background, we did not have a lot of money but I did get time spent on me to teach me reading, writing, manners and how to use my imagination . . . the days of playing shops with a cardboard box and things from my Mam's pantry.
