Default Aussie E-mail

hi All,

i have just booked my one way flight for Jan 2011

i am in the process of looking and applying for jobs. i have been advised that it would be best to apply 12 weeks before i go and also to get an aussie email address.

does this sound right, if so who would you recommend for an e-mail

Cheers
J

gmail.com They probably meant to just avoid obvious UK addresses ending in .co.uk.

Congrats! Very jealous

gmail are great for big attachments.
If you are looking for an oz email address, I got a hotmail live email ending in .com.au so my email is [email protected], very easy and free too

Yes, get an aussie email address.

When we arrived I found that my uk email address was ignored by everyone. Swapped to au email address and that worked.

Why not just use a gmail address? Then it doesn’t matter where you are in the world – know one knows if it’s a UK address or an Aussie address.

In my opinion, just better to have a .com than a .co.uk or .com.au or .ie or .cz or .whatever.

Just get gmail.com

I've kept my hotmail.co.uk email address and never had any issues with it

My gmail address has no issues and several of my ozzie colleagues also use it as its good for global comms when travelling for business or pleasure.
I did have an old 'ihateozzietwats.co.uk' email address but for some reason never got any responses to previous job applications!

I doubt if the lack of responses are due to your e-mail address tbh, assuming you're being upfront and telling people you're not actually in the country already. It's very difficult to get anyone to take any interest until you're actually here. In any case Jan 2011 is nearly a year away; unless you are in some very strange industry sector why would anyone promise you a job so far in advance?

Our email addresses are all .com only. Mainly gmail.com, and there are no problems with that.

I'm surprised you didn't get some type of response
