Aus: How To Proove Residence Of Sponsor?
Please Help?
As part of updating some of our paperwork, we have been asked to prove the permenant residence in Australia of our sponsor.
Our sponsor is my Uncle who has lived in Aus for about 20 year, however he has never become an Australian Citizen, and as he has not travelled for many years his passport and thus most recent resident return visa is very out of date.
What will be the easiest way for him to prove he has permenant residency?
Please help, I feel sick that we have got this close and have a complication!
Kind Regards
Sarah Fox

Hi Sarah.
To prove residency, I would suggest that many years of gas/phone/electricity bills etc would go a long way. Any other records like bank statment, electoral roll etc. would also help.
A long standing mortgage account surely would do it.
Good luck

I'm sure DIMA will already know that your Sponsor is a permanent resident. All they
want is for him to prove that he has lived in Aus for at least the last year. A
year's worth of utility bills, tax returns etc. The Sponsors form asks for 4 items of
proof (I think)and asks you to tick what is included when you lodge it.

Maybe your uncle should apply for a resident return visa at the nearest DIMA office.
Might not be a bad idea for him to apply for citizenship at the same time either.
