for people to live in a mulicultural society, we must all be prepared to accept and be tollerant of each others beliefs .
In Oz, people trafficking is alive and well.

What you mean is, it's good that Oz lets in people like you. I totally agree.

Now, if only the remaining narrow-minded, intolerant sheep would follow your example and emigrate, UK would be an even nicer place.

Some would argue that'd there would only be the Welsh and the Cornish left if that were so.

Tut, tut. You forgot the Scots and those in a few counties in the Emerald Isle...

I don't do scarcasm - lowest form of humour and all that - I do dry - bit subtler.

Being there isn't enough.

It's all about lack of scale and lack of competition. I know the cultures and workings of all the major Oz exchanges (both of them) extremely well. The problems arise because of vested interests , lack of competitive culture and the fact that Antipodean markets are very small.

Recently, one of the biggest Oz companies, News Corporation, upped and walked away from being traded on the ASX. The last time News Corporation moved, it was away from Fleet Street. Within a few years, all the papers followed.

There is very little local Exchanges on their own can do - traders go where the liquidity is : instantly. All small exchanges (ASX is only ~10th in the world) are shi**ing themselves that exchanges like NASDAQ, NYSE, LSE and Frankfurt will cherry-pick the most actively traded stocks - if they do, the small exchanges will increasingly become backwaters : as the NZSE has pretty much become.

Similarly, ASX could easily become a has-been exchange. Oz has ~2% of the world's capital - less than a third of London. If it drops below ~1.5%, most UK and US pension funds won't even bother to include Oz stocks - killing the Oz market even further.

As for the 'risks' of trading in China, it's factored into the price. We've moved on from the days when it took 5 or 3 days to settle a financial transaction. The risk is going down all the time. Small regional exchanges are likely to become irrelevant. Just watch.

Don't do scarcasm?

Does that mean you don't have a sharp tongue?...
