Default On arrival places to stay

Hi,
I will be landing first time in Sydney in June 2013, which is a better/cheap and safe location to stay for first few weeks till I settle;
I am accompanied by my wife and a 4 yr old son.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi AU,

We stayed in a holiday let while trying to find a home. Found ours on HomeAway, but there's also Stayz and others. Alternately you could look for a cheap hotel / motel room or suite - some of them have cooking facilities. What area of Sydney are you thinking of?

We stayed at the Oaks Goldsborough on Darling Harbor as it was near my job at the time. Not the absolute cheapest place in Sydney but back then it was pretty good value for Sydney CBD. I'd rate it as OK although it could be noisy on a weekend.
