Default Apllied for a job in OZ

I have just applied for a job in my trade with a recruitmment company recruiting in the UK for their Australian client. Here's a clipping from there advert :

They URGENTLY require qualified and experienced Heavy Truck
Mechanics for their Melbourne
based retail truck and bus dealerships and their also for their specialist
contract services division.

The employer is willing to offer assistance to suitable applicants to help them to obtain working visas for Australia and
possibly permanent residence status in the future.

Interviews being held in the UK February 2010

Anybody else take this route, i presume this would be sponsored visa rather than just skilled.

BTW its based in Melbourne, whats it like there?

Where abouts in Melbourne is the job?

Melbourne is bigger than London because of the way it sprawls.

I think its a fab city, but we live right on the outskirts in the Dandenong ranges. Others live on the coast or on the Mornington peninsular, they all love the beach life. Lots are heading to point cook recenlty and hearing good reports.

Do a search on here for Melbourne, and maybe look at the britvics websire as well.

good luck with the job application.

Doesn't say where abouts, its a bit like the sort of job advert you expect in a national paper, no specifics. But if logistics has anything to do with it i would say a large hgv/bus dealer wouldn't be crammed in a city centre location more likely in outer industrial areas, but thats just my UK based perception

Here's another part of the advert, does it give you any clues?:

Our client is a major Australian automotive retail group
which holds the franchise for a leading European brand of trucks and buses.
They operate a successful business and are generally regarded as an employer of
choice offering excellent working conditions, good remuneration plus on-going
training and career advancement opportunities.

BTW i see you like your bikes, whats the bike scene like over there and whats the crack with licencing as i have full car and bike licences here in UK

I would suggest that you contact them directly, register your interest & see if they can tel you more about the company. You certainly would get this info at interview & you would not be committed to anything at that point.
Have you been to Aus before? Had you been thinking of emigrating before you saw the ad or is this a spur of the moment thing as there are many considerations to making such a huge move, particularly if you have family to think about.

Loads of luck though

Me and my wife have been talking about it at some great length and with a couple of friends who are out there, one of which is in same trade as me.

Since the new year i have been looking into all thats involved legally, financially, logistically etc, and my bud in aus sent me a link to this job advert i thought i'd apply purely to guage the response, and hopefully get a better insight.

With you license, just get an appointment with Vic roads, and they take a pic, you fill in some paperwork, pay some money & they swap them over.

On a 457 (temp) visa, you dont have to swap over, permanent you must within 3 months. We were on a 457, but found it easier to swap anyway because.

There are plenty that own & ride bikes over here. Harleys very popular, but you will also see plenty of sporty's. Dirt bike riding is obiously very very popular as well.

I'm a member of a couple of ride forums & go for some excellent runs throughout the year. I also do a bit of dirt bike riding & 4x4. Its a paradise for big boys & their toys.

09 Fireblade, on road price $18,990.00

http://www.bikepoint.com.au/all-bike...=604%201430%20

here's a gixxer 1000 for $16,990.00

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Suzuki-GSXR10...128177001r3079

Bike sales where down nearly 14% last year, and dealers are doing some very good deals at the moment to clear stocks of old & new models.
