anything negative!!!

Hi,
Anybody got anything negative to say about life in Oz? It's something we will always regret not emigrating when we had the chance many moons ago. So it will make me feel a little better about the decision if I could read some negative comments. Come on, cheer me up while I look out at pouring rain, pleaaaaase? Anything???

- The two dollar coins are a stupid size.
- Driving is more aggressive here (generally of course)
- The mossies, flies, etc, etc
- Can't get a decent pint of Guinness
- The choice of 'newspapers' is woeful
- A comedian called 'Austen Tayshus' is allowed to exist
- Tried supporting Oz against everyone but England (as was my original philosophy) but still want them to lose, especially at cricket ... makes watching live international sport a bit of a conundrum

The courier mail is all you need. Who needs to read about world affairs, when you can read about the interesting lives of qld state politicians?

Yeh, we KNOW all that ... but have you got anything negative to say?

COME ON say it woman!

Must be SOMETHING, hell, I can make something up, hold on, here it comes <squeeze> ... 'The adverts DURING the programmes are really irritating'.

Not as stupid as the £2 coin. What's the point of having a coin that is twice the weight and twice the size when it is only twice the value of another coin. You may as well have two £1 coins. At least the $2 coin reduces the strain on your pocket.

I know that makes the 10c and 20c coins stupid but we inherited them from the Brits.

Can you tell that I was a fan of the 20p coin? :D

The flies - really bad this year
Mosquitos
The drought and all that implies
No history
The standard of education (bone of contention I know but one I am convinced of)
The rising cost of houses
The flies
The poor range of goods in the supermarkets
The heat
The political correctness
Did I mention the flies?

It's full of English people :rofl::rofl:

Maybe I should say that is bad cause it's full of Aussies :p does that help?!

They like the names Sheila and Bruce :)

No cheap flights to Amsterdam/Paris :( Thats the biggest negative in my opinion.

I was at the Samford Pub a cpl months back...

And they do guiness, but sit it on some kind of IONISER thing !!!

And sure as shit, this flat looking glass of coke.. suddenly turns into a wicked pint of Guiness !!

Dont know real name for it, but its bloody good

Re: anything negative!!!

A machine that can convert flat coke into guiness is surely a good investment.

lolol

They get the crappy cheap can of guiness, pour into a glass, looks like flat coke !

Then shove it on this ionising machine, and in about 30 seconds it turns into a perfect guiness !

But Guiness is rubbish wherever it's found.

Murphey's was a much better stout and Coopers is a much better one here.

I disagree about the history. Aus has a facinating history. Obviously the recorded bit is not very long in time but a lot of interesting stuff has been crammed in since settlement.

Quite like the 2 quid coin actually, just for aesthetic reasons though ... anyway it makes no odds because I don't have much call for 'em now :D

But hey, what about those bank notes? Why not different sizes? Didn't ANYONE think of the visually impared?!

And bank charges eh? Bastards.

And beaches? Whoever thought a beach was a good idea?

Surf Patrols? They are rubbish, just stay out of there and leave the idiot swimmers to their own devices. Go the shark I say.

It makes me seeeeeeth ... almost. ;)

Hello - - Guinness is so good for you it used to be on prescription in the UK until about 15 years ago, not Murphy's or Cooper's, but Guinness. Maybe the young Arthur ladd did a secret deal with Lloyd George, who knows.

How the pensioners of today suffer.

Negatives about Oz are, the education, the proximity to Europe, Castlemaine XXXX, Nicole Kidman, Spiders, drought, house prices, cost of living, shite shops, no history and most importantly of all 'the boomerang doesn't always come back!'

Good Luck,

Croc:):rofl::)

Lots of things negative!!!

The amount of time one has to wait at traffic lights

Wrong Way Go Back signs

The amount of profanities spoken................by ladies!

The way a kangaroo lies on the ground after being clobbered by a car

The way everyone says 'See you later' at the end of every interaction - especially shops - when you (and they) know full well you will not see them at all

Also on a plus side made me think of positives about home, Percy French, Oscar Wilde, George Best, George Bernard Shaw, Alex Higgins, Molly Malone and not forgetting Liam Neeson.

Thought it was fairly simple.

Traffic Lights in London, are worse than Oz.
Profanities spoken by ladies, again worse in UK.
WTF a roo has to do with the entire scope of things is beyond me, but yes its a negative !
The friendly way in which ppl in shops talk to you, is a negative? You for real?

Nice Guy Jan 21st 2008 11:41 am

Re: anything negative!!!

Errrrrrrrrrr....................do I know you??

Agreed it is fairly simple:

I thought this is a thread on the Australia forum, obviously I am incorrect and it is really a thread on let's compare OZ to the UK forum instead.

Please read my comments as if they were meant for an Australia forum, I state again,

Yes it is a long wait at traffic lights
Yes profanities are spoken by ladies
Yes kangaroos do lie in a strange position when clobbered by a car (IMVHO)
I love the friendly way people talk in the shops, but what I said was

The way everyone says 'See you later' at the end of every interaction - especially shops - when you (and they) know full well you will not see them at all
Nothing at all about the service provided.

Finally, yes I am for real..........are you a troll?

Nice Guy, can I ask - in your opinion, is the following a negative aspect of the UK?

"hedgehogs lie in a strange position when flattened by the wheels of a passing truck".

Well said Mark !

I think, with due respect Mr Nice Guy has misconstrued the title of this thread, and the replies to what he considers negative.

I think that Timber floor aus was merely making the observation that the usage of profane language by the female population is something that happens the world over....be it in Aus, UK, or Greenland.

Do you really think that Aussie women are always swearing ? Where do you live? Prisoner cell block H?
