Default Anyone travelled West? heading to Sydney?

Looking to find out if anyone on here has gone west through America.

we are looking at maybe doing this going Via New York, Florida, LA, Hawaii and then on to Sydney. has anyone done a similar route and could give me some idea of the cost, we are looking at maybe 2 days in New York, 5 days Florida ( for the kids) 2 or so days in LA, then maybe 1 week in Hawaii before eventually landing in Sydney.

Hi Glesga

Although we haven't done that route I would imagine that it will be fairly easy to arrange either yourself or through a travel agent (on line).
A couple of years ago we did Florida (stayed with friends) and then stopped off in NY for three nights on the way back to UK. The only extra cost was the accommodation in NY and that seemed very reasonable.

I'd definitely have a look at booking it yourself as friends did a NZ and Oz tour and saved loads doing it this way.

Anyway, hope you have a great time. Where, in Sydney are you planning to settle and what job are you hoping to do? We are off to Sydney in Sept although going a little more directly though!

Yep. Went to Sydney via New York, LA and Fiji. Cost a bit more, took a bit longer, but had a nice holiday on route. Extra baggage allowance also came in handy.

Sorted it out over the telephone with a travel agent. Pretty easy to do.

We went via the US. You can customise flights as much as you want, but you will pay through the nose for it. So we went a trade route. LHR-LAX, then on to Fiji and New Zealand before landing in Sydney. Took three or four weeks to do, all in. Once in the US, we travelled a bit (Palm Springs, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco) and booked flights as side tours, as needed, rather than include them on the main one-way ticket. We flew with Air New Zeland, who were very good. Via the US is a good idea, due to the baggage allowance. But you're really limited to stops (mainly LAX), unless you pay a premium. Trailfinders were pretty good for us.

We are heading to Coogee right on the coast for maybe a few weeks to stay with my Brother until we get a rental. we have been looking to go somewhere around Campbelltown,Narellan,Picton but it will all depend on how we find the place when we get there, getting used to all the uncertainties now so where we live is just another addition to list we had over the past 2 years from starting with the moving to OZ. I`m a Plasterer to trade but i wouldnt mind being a postman. i also have an MCSA qualification for a few years now and is something i may use, Who knows! as long as the sun shines i will be singing away

Where are you heading to in Sydney?
