British Airways refused to add airmiles for a BA flight, they said I should discuss it with the ticket agent, again some small print somewhere. I have never flown BA since. The last time I was in the UK the catering staff were on strike and there were loads of them picketing the airport. After seeing that lot and realising who prepares the food I am so glad I never flew BA again.

So the short story is: bury some information on a web site (preferrably someone elses), sell tickets like crazy; don't tell your customers about any negative items; make money and screw the customers --> if they complaint, you got away with it, and your excuse is that someting is written somewhere on some web site. Is that customer service? How many calories does it cost Qantas to tell customer this up front like "hey you want this ticket? It comes with no miles".. Perhaps it is a more profitable model of keeping this quiet until AFTER they fly... (just cannot belive some of you guys are DEFENDING ?!? this practice.. are you airline employees?)
There's this thing called personal responsibility, aka "caveat emptor" or "buyer beware". I would have thought anyone sensible would have investigated whether they'd get FF points before booking $10K worth of flights. I damn sure would have.

I doubt that Qantas would even be aware of the precise terms and conditions of YOUR frequent flyer membership with American Airlines. After all, you're a member and even you don't know, so why on earth would they? Are they supposed to know the details of the frequent flyer programs of every single partner airline? There comes a point where you kind of have to take responsibility for yourself in these things.

No such stipulations were made when we booked the tickets, after confirmation, nor is it printed on our intiniary, tickets, boarding passes, emailed confirmations or receipts.

Only after travel is completed and paid for do they refuse credits. Quantas, also does not respond to emails nor direct contacts. Is this fraud experienced by others?
Did you join BE just to rip QANTAS?

The details were there in plain view, you didnt check its your fault. Obviously you didnt read the small print as you didnt read the big print, QANTAS is written on the planes in letters 10 feet high

Personally I dont fly QANTAS or BA longhaul, not enough leg room.

I agree with Vicky88. If it works like some other FF programs, Qantas will contact AA to find out if the passenger flew and what booking classes were eligible to get points. AA will get the final say whether the points can be credited as it's their FF program.

Terms and Conditions usually will state everything and normally there should be info on the AA website with eligible booking classes or flight numbers for partner airlines (One World Airlines).

BUT..
you can only get YOUR ticket credited to YOUR QFF account
so.. if there were 4 of you travelling, then you need to open 4 QFF accounts and Qantas charge a joining fee.

once you have all the points in the accounts, you can then "gift" them to family members, thus getting the points back into one account..

then.. IF you can book a flight with AA/BA or any of the partner airlines, you're sorted.. the IF is for availablility, I have found world traveller plus on BA the easiest to book using QFF points followed by Cathay pacific, I have never tried American Airlines.

Like i said, its not what you want to hear, but it is a possible solution.

EDIT: of course check your tickets are valid before actually joining their FF scheme ..

Thanks Derab.. This was a very helpful posting .........

So cheating is fine Anyway, after Qantas ignored me and did nothing to help with my FF milage issue I got even. Here is the new web site where customers can tell their stories publicly about Qantas (not a blog) and where I post all relevent articles (has 45,000 hits yesterday)

You seemed to of failed to of read all the advice posted on here....
Nobody has cheated you.
YOU just failed to properly research what you were doing and are now trying to spit the dummy when it hasnt worked out the way you wanted it to.
You would be better off trying to focus on something more positive as your in danger of wasting your life on this if your not careful.... maybe try learning to read and write a bit better so you don't get yourself in this situation again.
Just to re-iterate IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH QANTAS.

I don't understand how you can blame this on Qantas. You entered a contract, they ahd terms and conditoins available which were quite clear. There is no obligationon Qantas to attempt to correct you on all possible things that you thought you might be getting but were not part of the contract. When I spend that much money I perform due diligence rahter than complain after the fact that someone failed to correct my incorrect expectations.

I am quite happy to have a go at Qantas when they fail to deliver what they are supposed to deliver but not when I the customer am incorrect.

Can you imagine:

" I didn't get the dancing girls on the plane that I thought I'd get!"
" We don't do dancing girls sir"
"But I expected them!"
"Errr...."
"why didn't you tell me in advance"
"errr....."

Mate read the above posts. Your frequent flyer program is at fault. Not Qantas. Just because you choose to ignore that small fact doesnt make it any less the truth of the matter.

Rant and rave all you like but do realise there is a reason you are not getting any sympathy, mainly because your wrong.
