Speak to Cathay as to whether they have child seats or bassinets onboard that can be pre-booked.
The airline I work for do not allow the use of child car seats onboard as they cannot be secured into the aircraft seat securely or safely, so we have special seats and bassinets onboard that can be pre-booked.

They do allow car seat in Economy and the old Business Class, but not in the new Business Class:

Car Seat

Personal infant car seat is accepted on board if it complies with the following requirements:
  • Forward facing
  • Designed for carrying an infant inclusively between the age of 6 months and 3 years, and weighs 18kgs or less
  • Must be in operational condition
Just give the airline a call to get approval.

We took 2 x 18 month olds to Oz and back on our reccie. we used the car seats on the way out and put them in the hold on the way back as they are actually more of a pain.

- the kids sleep better out of the car seats, believe it or not.
- if they drop anything you cant get it easily cos the car seat is in the way
- you can't get past the car seat to walk down the row
- in a car seat, the kid can kick the passenger in front.

We thought it would be great to have them in their car seats, it wasn't
