'Web walking' aside I dont see what people have against spiders.

Let me point out something you may not have considered:

Lots of spiders eat mosquitos.
The more 8 legged friends in and around my house the better as far as I'm concerned.

I find that walking like a stunted duck whilst waving my purse in front of my face gives the neighbours a good laugh.

 I do the Lost in Space robot walk, waving arms up and down in front of me. I wonder what the neighbours think but console myself with the fact that they are often out weeding the grass verge along the road at 5 am.

They can't call me mad. :D

I don't have anything against them - except when I walk into their webs of course!! You're so right, a nice huntsman around the place keeps everything else in order

Including the kids... Wait, maybe I should post that in the other thread...problem of unruly kids solved with a huntsman as a babysitter...

My sister has an absolute terror of spiders, as soon as the kids were old enough to know what a spider was she had them trained in "Methods of Spider Removal" :D

ALERT - NEW SPIDER PICTURE:D

Anyone?
this was a tiny spider that could jump like a cricket?

It's a Hunting Spider probably of the family Salticidae.

There are hundreds of species in Australia of all shapes and sizes. They're characterised by the fact they actively hunt for their prey rather than spin webs and they have large eyes and very good eyesight. As you discovered they also jump. They often move about by jumping and use it for pouncing on prey as well.
