Please put a danger/warning in the title in threads like these, so that us arachnophobes know not to delve in:scaredhair:.

It's a garden orbweaver, says my 9 year old (I had to get him to look at the picture). They are harmless and won't hurt you, he says (wonder if he knows how to revive a mum who's fainted:rofl:).

I hate the jumpy suckers. They're unpredictable. This seems to have the same body shape as a white tail spider. Their bite causes quite nasty skin ulceration which can be slow to heal.

"Garden Orb Weaving Spiders are common in gardens during summer. They build their webs in the evening and before daylight will sometimes eat the web, then hide all day.

They are non-aggressive and low risk to humans but walking into a web at night can cause panic, especially if the spider is on your face."

Had to laugh when reading this. Im not scared of spiders, but anyone would be frightened to bits with spider webs up their nose & a large hairy creature crawling around your eyes.

Its quite weird when you walk into a huge web, don't know if you've evr done it? I did it the other night coming home in the dark, it must have been right across the driveway. Just feels like lots of sticky strands of silk across your face, took me a while to work out what it was  Never saw the spider though......

Naaa, I broke free, his web wasn't strong enough :p probably have a reinforced one up by next week, ready for a second go at capturing me - I'd keep the local spider population well fed for weeks

We do the WebWalk on a morning, walking down the driveway to the car.

I find that walking like a stunted duck whilst waving my purse in front of my face gives the neighbours a good laugh.
