Question Any tips for renting property in Brisbane?

Hi folks,

Was wondering if those of you who have rented properties in the Brisbane/GC area could share some tips on renting. Things to look out for, things that should be included etc.

Would really appreciate any info.

Cheers

Ginny

Hi Ginny,

Always check the pre inspection report and go around the property with the agent. Point out any defects they've not noticed. We even took pics.

For short term rentals try a complex, they're roomy houses, cheap, onsight managers and secure for children. There's normally a BBQ area and swimming pool thrown in. The managers also maintain the gardens and the house plus ensure pest control is up to date.

Don't pay 6 mths in advance! Pay for 3 only. If you don't like it and you decide to move out, re-let or return to the UK, you wouldn't have lost as much.

Allow money for cleaning the place when you leave. You have to provide evidence that you've steam cleaned carpets etc It cost us for a general clean $330 If you have a pool or spa, thats extra.

The main thing is to be sensible and don't waste money on huge, expensive rentals as at some point or another, you'll need your money to put down permanent roots and aus ain't cheap!!!
