Question Any body got a rental near Vicky Point ??

Hi All,
We are moving out of our UK home next week and we will be flying out to Brisbane on 03/12/07 but we are struggling to find any rentals around Victoria Point on the web tried e-mailing nine estate agents up to now but had no replies, So i think we might have to get a hotel for a week and try and find a furnished rental once we arrive.
Does anybody know of any going around that area.

Thanks in advance
Darren

I think its unlikely that they will respond to email enquiries on rental properties. You'll need to call them.

99.9 -100% certain that you won't get a reply to the emails, as there is usually enough "walk-in" customers as it is. It is extremely rare that they would deal with a customer by email over this type of matter. It would probably be better to get a hotel/motel when you get here, then go around and look at the ones you like of the site. As you may have to view several each day, you will probably need to apply for heaps as there is a high demand at the moment. Be prepared for a wait until the applications are processed and a decision is made by the owner.

Most Rentals are only on the list for one or two weeks as the demand is so high, so it very much walk in the agents on list day, drive around, view a few, and get your application in.

Then you have the fun of ID and references etc.

No agent is going to bother getting back to you by email. Your not even in the country at the moment and certainly cant sign a lease. Whereas people walking into their offices everday are in that position.

Its sadly economic sense for the agent.

Hi Darren,

Just so you know (and others in similar situation too) - the agent I recommended said that it would help if you could bring with you a few references from the UK. Even if you didn't rent in the UK, if you could get the agent who sold your house to write something about the dealing with you and the condition of the house when you left it, etc. Hopefully you're in good terms with your UK agent.

As there are so many prospective tenants but so few available properties here, even if you offered to pay 3 or 6 months' rent up front, property owners would still like to know that you wouldn't be trashing their houses.

Other references could come from a bank manager stating you were paying your mortgage on time; neighbours to say you haven't be too much trouble in the neighbourhood, etc. I've even seen references from friends/colleagues, basically to say you are a trust worthy person, etc.

Hope this helps.

Mrs JTL
